Sonny Lemerande inlisted in the navy after leaving high school. He served for over nine years and did multiple tours of duty. On his second deployment in 2009, Sonny’s Humvee was struck by a pressure plate anti-tank mine, he sustained a lower body injury and was diagnosed with PTSD. However his injuries haven’t slowed him down, he finished his career as a mentor to junior sailors. He is currently attending higher education to become a social worker. He will be competing in Field-Discus, Shot Put, Sitting Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball.
