2nd Class Sonar Technician, Shericka Goza, joined the Navy in 2003. She went on various tours with the most memorable being stationed on the USS Oscar Austin and deployed to help in the negotiation of two vessels captured by Somali pirates off the coast of Africa. She eventually became a training instructor at Training Support Centre Great Lakes. In 2011 she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer, she recently began her 5th round of chemotherapy treatment. She will be competing in Archery, Cycling, Athletics and Rowing.
