Rahmon Zondervan was injured in Afghanistan on July 10th 2007, three months after his deployment day, by a suicide controlled IED. Rahmon was wounded on his arms, legs, ears, and face. This led to Rahmon losing his right eye and significantly damaging his eardrums, which resulted in him getting an eye prosthetic. Rahmon has always loved sports and fitness, so that is why it was such an important part of his recovery. Rahmon is looking forward to the Invictus Games because it’s a great opportunity to set individual goals, and to show the world that their is a life after injury, and that “we are not defeated”.
