In 2007, Captain Rahmon Zondervan was hit by an IED in the Uruzgan province in Afghanistan, and was wounded in his arms, legs and face. He lost his right eye and recieved 220 stitches. Rahmon now has an eye prosthetic and all his skin damage has completely healed. During his rehabilitation, he ran in his hometown to relieve stress and anxiety. He is honoured to captain the Dutch team, and hopes they can bring home some medals.
