Maria Gomez-Manix was a surface officer assigned to the Naval Undersea Warfare Centre. In 2012 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2013 she underwent major surgery and commencer chemotherapy. After several months of treatment tests indicating clear margins and lymph nodes, she is continuing reconstructive surgery and is continuing to heal. She will be competing in Archery, Cycling, Field-Discus, Javelin, Shot Put, Rowing and Sitting Volleyball.
