John de Ruiter was injured after a hard landing during parachute jumping. This resulted in a fractured vertebra, spinal cord injury and failure of the nervous system – mostly to the right leg. He has been using the power of sport to combat against his injuries, and will be representing the Netherlands in Archery, Sitting Volleyball and the Jaguar Landrover driving challenge.
