Javier inlisted in 2002 wanting to serve his country and see the world. He served aboard various submarines and at a variety of naval bases. In 2011 he was the victim of a hit and run accident. He sustained severe trauma to his lower extremeties, since then he has battled through extensive surgeries and physical therapy and ultimately had his left leg removed. He is looking forward to meeting other wounded veterans from around the world at the games. He will be competing in Cycling, Field-discus, Sitting Volleyball and Whelchair Basketball.
