During a posting to Afghanistan, both of Craig Preece’s legs were severely damaged after a Taliban-planted roadside bomb blew up the vehicle he was travelling in. Constant agonising pain in Preece’s right leg led to it being amputated. With one prosthetic leg and a very weak left leg, he was unable to return to his favourite sport of running, so took up cycling. Through continuous training, Preece has taken part in a number of cycle events and will be representing the British Armed Forces Cycling team.
