Andy Phillips suffered a spinal injury during the 1990 Gulf War. Upon arriving back to the UK, he spent time in an RAF Hospitals at Ely and Wroughton. After surgery Phillips made nine trips to Headley Court before being medically discharged in 1993. He was an RAF Armourer, and hadn’t taken up any adaptive sports until a few years ago, which has really helped him build a new life. Phillips has learnt to scuba dive and has also taken part in the American National Veterans Wheelchair Games for the last two years. He will be representing the British Armed Forces in Archery.
