13 September 2014 – It is half time at the Invictus Games and the international sports competition for ‘wounded warriors’ has already produced an array of memorable moments.

At the end of Day 2, no less than 121 medals had been awarded including 43 Gold, 43 Silver and 38 Bronze. 101 of those came in the track and field events on Day one as the sporting action commenced at Lee Valley Athletics Centre.  A further 20 medals followed on Day 2 as competitors from eight nations took to the podium after medal success in the Archery and Wheelchair Rugby.

There is no official medal table at the Invictus Games, which celebrate the fighting spirit of all the competitors. A look back at the highlights of Days 1 and 2 goes far beyond the medal winning performances to others which have showcased the ‘Invictus spirit’ that these Games are all about.

Sir Keith Mills, Chairman of the Invictus Games explains: “For many of the Servicemen and women competing here in London, just getting to the starting line has been an incredible achievement. The Invictus Games are all about recognising the sacrifice they have made but focusing on what they can achieve, post-injury.”

The action and atmosphere continues to build to fever pitch with medals yet to be decided in Road Cycling, Indoor Rowing, Wheelchair Basketball, Powerlifting, Swimming and Sitting Volleyball.
